About Us
Studio VMA is an architectural practice integrating design, research, and innovation to deliver thoughtful, durable, and low-carbon buildings. Our work spans early feasibility through to built projects, using applied research as a tool to reduce risk, inform decision-making, and improve long-term outcomes for people and communities.
Our Approach
We take a holistic, evidence-based approach to architecture—bringing together design excellence, technical rigour, and real-world implementation.
Integrated Design and Research, using projects as platforms for testing and learning.
Holistic Feasibility Studies, addressing planning, zoning, code, cost, and constructibility early.
Systems Thinking, considering buildings as part of larger social, environmental, and material networks.
Evidence-Based Decision-Making, informed by performance analysis, life-cycle thinking, and material intelligence.
Our Values
Our work is grounded in a commitment to care—for people, place, and the future.
Climate Action, through low-carbon design and adaptive reuse.
Housing Equity, supporting access to safe, dignified, and resilient housing.
Long-Term Durability, prioritizing quality, performance, and stewardship.
Care for Communities, respecting cultural, social, and environmental contexts.
From Research to Built Work
Our approach is applied across a range of building types and delivery contexts—from feasibility studies and adaptive reuse, to housing, industrial projects, mass-timber buildings, and construction prototypes. Research is embedded in the work itself, informing design decisions and translating innovation into real, buildable outcomes.
Where appropriate, Studio VMA works with clients to strategically align projects with available funding and financing frameworks, particularly for housing, community, and low-carbon initiatives. By integrating funding considerations early—alongside planning, approvals, and technical feasibility—we help projects move forward with clarity, confidence, and long-term viability.
